College Essay Writing Workshop: Part II
Tuesday, Mar 29 | 7:00 PM

The NCHS PFA and the NCHS Writing Center have organized a virtual two-part college essay workshop for all students. The second workshop is March 29 from 7:00-8:30 pm.  

The second workshop will help students select an organizational structure that will best develop their ideas. Once students have a draft of their essay, they are encouraged to bring it to the Writing Center for additional feedback.

The workshop will be held via Zoom. The waiting room will be open 10 minutes prior to the start of the event. All students are welcome to join and will be admitted promptly at 7:00 PM.

COUNSELING NEWS
SPECIAL SCHEDULE for CT School Day SAT
Tuesday, Mar 29 (Day G)

7:30 -11:40 AM School Day SAT (11th Grade)

All eleventh graders should report to their testing room by 7:30 AM. Room assignments will be posted around the building the week of March 21, 2022. 

Students in rooms with extended time accommodations will go beyond the time above and should bring snacks to be eaten during scheduled breaks.

  • Twelfth graders will participate remotely from home in preparatory activities for the Senior Internship Program (SIP).
  • Any other student in the building should report to the Cafeteria. The Library will be closed for testing.
  • Buses will run at standard times (arriving at 7:30 and departing after 2:05)

Post-SAT schedule for all students

Lunch11:00 AM - 12:30 PM(Available for all students)
Period 212:30 PM - 1:15 PM(45 minutes)
Period 31:20 PM - 2:05 PM(45 minutes)


College Interviewing Workshop for Juniors

There will be a college interviewing workshop on Tuesday, April 5, during the lunch block. To reserve a space, please encourage your student to email Mrs. Carroll (susan.carroll@ncps-k12.org) and let her know what lunch your child has that day.  

Inside College Admissions
Tuesday, April 5 | 7:00 PM

Join the school counselors and admissions representatives from Boston College, Rhodes College, Texas Christian University and University of California, Los Angeles. Get an inside look of an admissions committee at work! 

During the session we will review three fictitious applicants to an equally fictitious college and reveal how an applicant is considered during an admissions cycle. This program is geared to juniors and sophomores and it will be recorded.  

EVENT LOCATION: The Zoom link will be available before the event.

Upcoming College Fairs
Virtual Offering: April 3, 2022

The next NACAC College Fair will be held on line on April 3. This is a great opportunity for sophomores and  juniors to interact with college admissions officers and learn more about colleges as they consider their list. Click HERE to register.

In Person: April 12, 2022

The 8th Annual Southern Connecticut College & Gap Year Fair will be Tuesday, April 12, from 4:00-7:30 PM at the Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater in Bridgeport, CT. With over 200 college admission counselors on hand, this is one of the largest college events in our area. The event is free and is open to all high school students and their families.
