Estella Trygg along with Larson Riccoboni were the student coordinators, Natalie Frank and Sumner Pellegrini DePaul both contributed to the poster/logo design, and Jack Marshall, Luke Tullier, in collaboration with NCHS Film students, created the exhibition videos. The following students are featured in the show: Eliana Bukai, Natalie Frank, Richard Hernandez, Faith Hibbert, Jack Marshall, Sumner Pellegrini DePaur, Larson Riccoboni, Alexandra Schauer, William Stallings, Estella Trygg, and Luke Tullier.
The NCHS senior show is unique in that it challenges each student to present their work as a one-person “retrospective” that can be drawn from any artwork they have created throughout their high school years. The organization of this exhibit is meant to draw attention to each student’s individual portfolio and distinctive artistic style creating their personal voice. The challenge of evaluating and choosing one’s own work is exciting and demanding to these artistically talented students. Many of our seniors are planning to pursue their artistic talents at the college level next year.
The senior exhibition will also give three seniors an opportunity to have their work purchased for the NCHS Fritz Eager Foundation for Art Education Art Collection. The purchased works of art will then be on permanent display throughout the high school and the NCPS district offices. Students also have the opportunity to earn a “Body of Work” award given to students whose entire exhibited portfolio is cohesive and original. This art collection began in 1969 in the memory of New Canaan High School art student Fritz (Frederick) Eager. The Fritz Eager selection committee is composed of high school administrators and professional artists.
Advising students on the planning and organizing of the event were their art teachers Kimanne Core, Jennifer Sinski, and Maggie Pennoyer.
