OCTOBER 2022
A NOTE FROM PRINCIPAL EGAN
Principal Bill Egan NCHS

Dear New Canaan High School Families,

If you thought September was a busy month, get ready for October!  So many good things are happening this month. Spirit Week, one of our time-honored traditions, is scheduled for the week of October 10. STUCO plans fun and exciting daily activities. The week ends with a school-wide pep rally, a bonfire on Friday at 6:30 pm, a homecoming game, and a dance on Saturday, October 15, in the gym from 7:00-10:00 pm. We look forward to a fun-filled week of safe celebrations!

NCTV 78, New Canaan High School’s TV station, is excited to provide live game coverage, broadcasts, and video productions. The award-winning theater department will begin rehearsals for the fall play “Take her, She’s Mine,” scheduled for three performances at the end of October. Theater Coordinator, Christopher Myers, has done an outstanding job with our talented students, preparing them for entertaining and well-choreographed productions.

Financial Aid Night, a virtual program, is scheduled on October 19, beginning at 7:00 pm, presented by the School Counselors. Counselors will provide a link as the date approaches.

The Teen Driving Program: "A Roadmap to Safe Driving" (for parents and teens) is scheduled for October 26 at 7:00 pm in the Wagner Room and is a PFA-sponsored event. NCHS PFA plans and runs impressive, one-of-a-kind events for our students. Please visit the PFA website to learn how you support valuable programs and be an active member!

Finally, I would like to express my sincerest thanks to everyone in our school community for all you do to support our students. I look forward to connecting with you at the many school-wide events.

Wishing you all the best,

Bill Egan, Principal

Students who are unable to meet with the reps should stop by the CCC BEFORE the visit time and fill out a form indicating their interest in the visiting school. Attendance is taken at these sessions which are either in person or via zoom. The visit schedule may be viewed through Naviance and on the NCHS website (School Counseling page).

SCHOOL NEWS + NOTICES
Athletics
NC Rams All Sports Booster Club

The NC Rams All Sports Booster Club supports all New Canaan High School athletic programs. We raise and distribute funds to provide necessary athletic program components which are above and beyond those provided by the NCHS athletic budget and assures equity of resources for all CIAC-recognized sports. Each year, the Club funds additional coaches for every team, raising the skillset and abilities of all athletes.

More than 70% of all NCHS students participate in school athletics in any given year. For these students, athletics are an integral part of the educational process. Through athletic participation, students learn teamwork, work ethic, time management and a responsibility to others.

Come See the Fall Play—Take Her, She's Mine
Thursday, Oct 27 - Saturday, Oct 29 | 7:00 pm

Take Her, She’s Mine by Phoebe and Henry Ephram is a warming comedy that follows a typical American girl enroute to college. With the “Mod-60s” as the show’s backdrop and their daughter heading from the west coast to the east coast, the biggest question becomes, who is in for a greater shock: the girl or her parents? Much to the dismay of her father especially, his daughter and her roommates go through several phases as they explore who they think they want to be and who they think they should be as blossoming adults. Dive into a different time in American history (that’s sometimes not so different) and connect with a family as they struggle and grow together. Click HERE for more information. Tickets will be available for purchase soon.
