NCHS Senior Internship Program Needs Hosts

The NCHS Senior Internship Program (SIP) needs companies and organizations to host seniors from May 16 to June 9, 2023. Seniors intern for approximately 5 hours during the school day and receive school credit.  We will accept in-person, remote, or hybrid internships. 

The SIP is a mutually beneficial program for students and companies. The deadline to post an internship with us is January 3, 2023. Seniors will view available internships beginning in January. Please contact Heather Bianco via email or phone (203) 594-4752 for more information.

Calling All NCHS Downhill Skiers! Are you interested in alpine racing at the high school level? Come join the NCHS Alpine Ski Team! 

NCHS alpine racers work on athletic conditioning and race training with experienced coaches in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. If interested contact Ned Ravanesi.

Yoga and Sound Bath Series at the Carriage House
Saturdays starting January 7, 9:00-10:00 am

Join us at the Carriage Barn Saturday mornings for an exciting new wellness collaboration with Grounded Meditation. This Gentle Yoga and Sound Bath series will engage both body and mind to help melt away the stresses of the week and start your weekend right! After a brief opening meditation, we’ll stretch and loosen up with a gentle yoga practice, accompanied by the soft sounds of Crystal and Tibetan singing bowls, chimes, gongs, drums and more.

Open to all levels; no experience needed. Please bring a mat and any other props you would like for comfort- blanket, bolster, pillow, eye covering, etc. $175 series of 6/$40 per class. Click HERE to register online.

iPhone Photography Workshop at the Carriage Barn
January 14, 10:00 am-1:00 pm

Learn how to take stunning photographs and portraits using your iPhone with award-winning photographer and instructor Emily Kelting.  Learn all about your iPhone’s in-camera options as well as several app choices, then head outside to practice your new skills. This class will cover the basics of composition, lighting, interest and editing on the iPhone.

Class is limited to 12 participants. Requirements: iPhone models 8 plus and up (must have portrait mode in camera setting). 
Snapseed app downloaded before class. Mac laptop if possible. Fee is $140 for current members or $160 for non-members. Click HERE to register.

Please join New Canaan CARES and their partners in welcoming New Canaan High School Resource Officer Jeff Deak and Tricia Dahl, Research Assistant from Yale School of Medicine, in an eye-opening discussion about the common substances accessible to our children, how they affect the adolescent brain, and what we see in our community and schools. This program is intended for middle and high school families. Students are invited and encouraged to attend.

After School Drawing Series At The Carriage Barn
Tuesdays starting January 24, 3:00 pm

Students in grades 7-12 are welcome to join this six-week sketching class led by teacher and artist, Vanessa Curri. Work on a different still life composition in pencil/charcoals each week, developing a variety of techniques. 

Sessions are accessible for all skill levels and no experience is necessary. Come learn and work with others in a relaxed and supportive environment. Fees are $150 for Carriage Barn Members/$165 for non members.All supplies will be provided. Click HERE for more information and to register.
