We look forward to seeing everyone at NCHS Open House! Below find some key information for the evening:
- Freshmen parents will meet with administration beginning at 6:30 pm in the auditorium.
- All grade levels will begin class meetings at 7:00 pm.
- Drop in during your students' assigned or free period to meet the PE and Health Ed teachers:
- 9th Grade Health Education teachers will be in Room 201
- 10th Grade Health Education teachers will be in Room 202
- Physical Education teachers will be in the Main Gymnasium.
- Support classes and classes that meet for less than a full block will be a drop-in to meet the teacher. (i.e ACES//Writing Center/Math Center/Learning Center)
- Parents should only attend the full Science class; minis do not need to meet.

We are hosting our final PFA General Meeting (in person!) on Wednesday, May 11th at 9:30am in the Wagner Room.
We will be voting on the proposed slate for next year as well as the 2022-2023 budget followed by a parent coffee and Q&A session with Principal Egan. We hope to see you there!

College Ready? What to Expect & Tips for the Transition.

Gregg Sloane, Teen Talk Counselor at NCHS, will share advice on how to prepare our seniors for independent living as well as prepare parents for the upcoming transition. Gerald Gjertsen of Lampert, Toohey, and Rucci will also discuss all the legal documents employed when a child turns 18 and enters college.
Safe Driving Week (All Grades)

With a special focus on keeping our teen drivers safe, this important week-long initiative includes impactful, interactive activities including distracted driving simulators and a Fatal Vision Goggles Challenge that will drive home safety messages to bring awareness to and help prevent the riskiest of teen driving. The week concludes with an assembly featuring Chris Sandy from Choices Matter. Chris Sandy is a motivational speaker specializing in alcohol awareness. He shares his powerful story of being charged and convicted of vehicular homicide by DUI and serving 8 ½ years in prison for his crime.Read More
A Look Inside College Admissions

Join the school counselors and admissions representatives from Boston College, Rhodes College, Texas Christian University, and University of California, Los Angeles. Get an inside look at an admissions committee at work!
During the session we will review three fictitious applicants to an equally fictitious college and reveal how an applicant is considered during an admissions cycle.
This program is geared to juniors and sophomores and it will be recorded.

College Essay Workshop featuring Mindi Trimble of The College Essay Guy

The NCHS PFA and the NCHS Writing Center have organized a virtual two-part college essay workshop for all students. The workshop will run in the evenings on March 22 and March 29 from 7:00-8:30 pm.
The first workshop will help students generate ideas for their college essays, and the second will help students select an organizational structure that will best develop their ideas. Once students have a draft of their essay, they are encouraged to bring it to the Writing Center for additional feedback.
All students are welcome to join!

Please join us to hear our NCHS Counselors discuss what juniors and their parents should be considering for their college search this spring. They will discuss how Naviance can be used as a tool in this process and how planning your student’s summer can help smooth the transition into the senior year phase of their college search.
